Queenie

Greetings. My name is Hashaqueena Earth. I am a 16-year-old homeschooled holistic entrepreneur from Denver, Colorado.  It's been an honor to experience my third year at Big Hair Bigger Dreams surrounded by these empowering women with amazing intelligence. What a great opportunity to get involved in the Get N' Formation camp learning more about women who have developed the businesses around wellness in my community. The camp ignited the potential my family always saw in me. In the future, I can see myself as a Musician, Model, Actress, and the next holistic Madam C.J Walker with my own organic cruelty-free cosmetics. My goal is to impact millions, but I'm grateful to inspire one to pursue my dreams to the fullest. I am grateful because Big Hair Bigger Dreams gave me the keys to unlock the success that was always in me.

Paris

"I am an Artist." My name is Paris Bankston, and I am a 15-year-old African-American young woman. I was born in Atlanta, Georgia, we soon moved to North Carolina and then to Denver, Colorado, which is where I’ve lived since then. I grew up with a single mother, and all of my life, she has always been my role model. My mother is wise and smart and very funny. My bird, on the other hand, hates everyone and will not hesitate to eat you! My dog is very sweet and loves attention, but this doesn't mean he won't try to suffocate you with his size. I love to draw and paint, and my favorite subject is history. I joined Big Hair, Bigger Dreams because I love working as a team and I love meeting new people. I never really knew what I wanted to be as a child, but now I can't decide if I want to be an artist or a forensic scientist.

Trinity

Hi! My name is Trinity Washington. I am a freshman at East High School. This is my first year at Big Hair Bigger Dreams and it’s been one of the greatest opportunities of my life through the Get N' Formation camp, I've had the opportunity to meet amazing and beautiful African-American women, fight to make a change in my community, and test my commitment and I passed. In the future, I aspire to be the CEO of an International Choreography Incorporation. This camp helped me to prepare by helping me study the criteria that I would need to get started. I need a reason as to why I should be the CEO, I would need to persuade people for funding and investments, and everything else, and this camp was the biggest help!

Lauryn

Hi! My name is Lauryn Bracken. I go to school at the Denver School of Innovation and Sustainable Design. I've been a part of Big Hair Bigger Dreams for about 2  years, and I've enjoyed every minute! This year, I've participated in Challenge 5280, where I learned about the process of making policy. Through the Get Information camp, I have had the opportunity to make new friends and learn more about making a policy in Denver Public Schools. Big Hair Bigger Dreams has helped me with my future aspirations of being a political activist by teaching me to always dig deeper in the search for the root causes.

Maya

Hello, my name is Maya Broomfield. I attend Lakewood High School. This is my third year with Big Hair Bigger Dreams. Being in this program has helped me to develop skills that I didn't even know I had. It has gained me lifelong friends that look like me and share the same interests.  It has allowed me to meet great role models that are breaking all the stereotypes of black women. It has allowed me to be myself and do what I want to do without being judged. It has also allowed me to do activities like rafting, sewing, and other activities that I can use for the rest of my life. The biggest thing that BHBD has done for me was give me black women who I know care about me and my future and want and expect nothing but the best. Which has caused my confidence to flourish past my expectations
