Ginnie Logan: Executive Director
Ginnie Logan is currently a Human Resources Manager for a large corporation. However she comes from a career of education. Right after completing her undergrad degree at the University of Colorado-Boulder, Ginnie taught high school in Memphis with Teach for America. She moved on to become a Training Resource Manager and curriculum consultant for the New Teacher Project. She ended her career in education co-leading a middle school as an Assistant Principal at a Denver based charter school.
With her years in education, she learned that often times the most significant learning experiences happen outside of the school building. Now as a Human Resources Manager, Ginnie is able to see how the type of schooling, life exposure, acquired skills, and social connections directly impact a person's abilities to achieve a fulfilling and sufficient professional life.
In her current capacity, Ginnie often works with women who have not been able to accomplish their professional or personal dreams. The correlation between opportunity as a young person and success as an adult are devastatingly clear.
Girls who live in the margins, due to their ethnicity, their income, or family duress, often grow into women who continue to live on the edges of our society. It is apparent, traditional schooling and existing mentorship programs for girls simply are not enough. Too many girls are falling through the cracks. There needs to be more.
Big Hair, Bigger Dreams, is Ginnie’s effort to compliment, enhance, and support the good work that is already happening in the fields of mentorship and education reform by adding a program that addresses the unique challenges facing girls who live on the racial and economic margins of society.
